Principal Areas of Work Corporate and Commercial Fraud: Cooper Kenyon Burrows has one of the largest and longest established commercial fraud and tax controversy practices in the country with five partners practising full-time in this area assisted by 26 experienced fee earners. The firm became a member of the Serious Fraud Panel at its inception and the partners are accredited as supervisors of the most serious and complex cases. Regulation & Compliance: Cooper Kenyon Burrows advises and represents both companies and individuals in respect of investigations and proceedings brought by the many regulatory bodies that have proliferated in recent years such as the DTI, FSA, HSE and the Asset Recovery Agency and in professional disciplinary hearings. These proceedings are now often brought in the civil courts or before specialist tribunals. The firm has continued to broaden its expertise across this range of proceedings and now has significant strength in Environment law and in the provision of advice to all those involved in the Nuclear industry HM Revenue & Customs: The firm is an acknowledged leading practice in this area and specialises in the protection of its clients' interests in the face of the exceptional powers of investigation possessed by HMRC. Often working with expert accountancy practices it has substantial experience in securing negotiated financial settlements with the Tax Authorities as an alternative to prosecution and regularly advises during 'Hansard' proceedings.
